Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare announced himself at Ajax in style, netting on his debut as the Eredivisie club beat FC Volendam 3-2 in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

Arokodare came off the bench in the 71st minute, replacing Marcos Leonardo, and needed little time to make his mark. The 25-year-old striker headed home Ajax's third goal in the 88th minute, capitalising on the chaos caused by a dangerous cross from Anton Gaaei that left the FC Volendam defence scrambling.

The Nigerian forward completed his move to Ajax earlier this week, joining the Dutch club on a season-long loan from Sky Bet Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ajax hold an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

With a debut goal already to his name, Arokodare will be eager to push for a regular starting berth as Ajax build their squad for the season ahead.
