Arsenal Confirm Club-Record £60 Million Sale of Martinelli to Al-Hilal

Arsenal have confirmed the permanent departure of Gabriel Martinelli to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal for a fixed fee of £60 million — a new club record that eclipses the £40 million the Gunners received when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2017.
The deal also includes a sell-on clause, giving Arsenal a future financial interest in any subsequent transfer of the Brazilian winger.
Seven years of service
Martinelli arrived at Arsenal in July 2019 from Brazilian club Ituano and went on to become one of the most important players of the club's recent golden era. Over seven seasons, he made 278 appearances in all competitions, contributing 62 goals.
"Gabi joined us from Brazilian club Ituano in July 2019 and went on to make 278 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 62 goals," Arsenal said in an official statement on Thursday.
The 25-year-old was part of the squad that secured the FA Cup in 2020, the FA Community Shield in 2023, and — most notably — the Premier League title last season, the club's first league championship in two decades.
International honours
Beyond his club contributions, Martinelli cemented his place as a key figure for Brazil during his time in north London. He earned 27 caps for the national side and represented his country at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he won a gold medal. He also featured at the 2024 Copa America and appeared at both the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups.
Arsenal's statement concluded with warm words for the departing attacker: "Everyone at Arsenal would like to thank Gabi for his contribution to the club and wish him and his family well for the future."
The transfer remains subject to the completion of regulatory processes before being finalised.
