Arsenal Confirm Trossard Departure to Besiktas in £17m Deal

Arsenal have officially confirmed the departure of Leandro Trossard to Turkish club Besiktas, with the deal structured as an initial £15.3m plus £1.7m in add-ons, bringing the total to £17m.
The Belgian winger has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical, and Besiktas announced his arrival at Ataturk Airport on Tuesday evening.
Three and a half seasons at the Emirates
Trossard made 174 appearances for Arsenal over three and a half years, contributing 36 goals since his £27m January 2023 move from Brighton.
In the Gunners' title-winning campaign last season, he scored eight goals and registered 11 assists across 50 matches in all competitions — a season that also saw Arsenal finish as UEFA Champions League runners-up.
Among his most memorable contributions was a goal against West Ham on 10 May that all but sealed the Premier League title for Arsenal, a moment that cemented his status as a cult figure among supporters.
Of his 27 Premier League goals for the club, 17 either drew Arsenal level or put them ahead — a record surpassed only by Bukayo Saka among Arsenal players during that same period.
Overhaul ahead at left wing
At 31, with one year remaining on his contract, Arsenal's decision to sell now reflects sound business logic. The club are widely reported to be targeting a broader reshaping of the left flank, with Gabriel Martinelli's contract also expiring in the summer of 2027.
Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers is understood to be Arsenal's priority target, while PSG's Bradley Barcola has also been linked as a potential option. Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis is another name under consideration, with reports suggesting a fee in the region of £34m — which would represent a Belgian Pro League record.
With the World Cup drawing to a close, Arsenal are beginning to move decisively in the transfer market. Trossard's exit marks the first significant piece of summer business — and signals that further activity is imminent.
