Arsenal Eye Julian Alvarez With Gyokeres Swap Offer on the Table
Arsenal are exploring a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer, with the club having raised the possibility of including Viktor Gyokeres as part of any potential deal, according to talkSPORT.
The Argentina international has told Atletico Madrid he wishes to leave the club, with Barcelona understood to be his preferred destination. However, Atletico have shown no appetite for selling to their LaLiga rivals — they have already turned down an £86 million offer from Barcelona and pointed the Catalan club towards his £432 million release clause.
Atletico's frustration deepened earlier in the summer when Real Madrid submitted what the Spanish club viewed as an insincere £129 million bid, a move that reportedly angered those at the Metropolitano.
Gyokeres as a makeweight
talkSPORT reports that Arsenal broached the idea of offering Gyokeres as a makeweight during early conversations with Atletico. While Atletico hold genuine interest in the Swedish striker, the situation remains fluid — Arsenal have not committed to selling Gyokeres, and club-to-club discussions over Alvarez are still at an exploratory stage.
Any deal for Alvarez would be treated as a separate pursuit to Arsenal's ongoing interest in Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, with the Gunners continuing to monitor both targets independently.
Tzolis talks and Trossard departure
In other transfer activity, Arsenal remain in positive dialogue with Club Brugge over a potential deal for Greek winger Christos Tzolis. The development comes as Leandro Trossard's £17 million move to Besiktas was officially confirmed, freeing up space in the Gunners' attacking ranks.
