Arsenal Eye PSG's Barcola as Rogers Alternative Amid Summer Rebuild

Arsenal are monitoring Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as a credible alternative to Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, after indications emerged that the French forward could be available in the summer transfer window.
According to BBC Sport, Arsenal's representatives — who have been tracking Barcola for a considerable period — plan to attend France's FIFA World Cup last-32 fixture against Sweden on Tuesday evening, with Barcola expected to feature.
The Rogers stumbling block
Rogers, 23, remains a primary target for Arsenal's recruitment team, but reports suggest Aston Villa are demanding in the region of £130 million for the England forward — a figure that could prove prohibitive.
With that valuation in mind, Arsenal have broadened their search. Barcola, also 23, has emerged as a strong alternative in the eyes of the Gunners' recruitment staff, and the winger's contractual situation makes him an attractive proposition.
Barcola's situation at PSG
Barcola is contracted to Paris Saint-Germain until the summer of 2028, and his potential availability this summer is partly tied to the protracted transfer of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande to the French champions. Should PSG bring in Diomande, it could alter their attacking plans and open the door for Barcola's departure.
Any fee for Barcola would represent considerably less than the £130 million Villa are believed to be asking for Rogers. Arsenal are not alone in their interest, however — Liverpool are also understood to be monitoring the 23-year-old France international.
Arsenal explore goalkeeper market
Elsewhere, Arsenal have identified Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier as a transfer target. Questions surround the future of current second-choice keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of next season, prompting the club to scout for reinforcements between the posts.
Meslier, 26, has lost his starting place at Elland Road and is out of contract this summer, making him available on a free transfer — a factor that is likely to attract significant interest from multiple clubs.
