Arsenal Lead Chase for Nico Williams as Summer Transfer Window Heats Up

last week·2 min

Arsenal are among the leading contenders to sign Athletic Club winger Nico Williams this summer, according to reports — though the Gunners face stiff competition from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United for the 23-year-old Spain international.

The north London club's pursuit of Williams is the headline item in a busy cycle of transfer speculation, with several high-profile moves beginning to take shape across Europe's biggest clubs.

Martinez heading to Juventus?

Juventus have opened negotiations with Aston Villa over a deal for Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, 33. Reports from Italy suggest the shot-stopper has already agreed personal terms with the Turin side, making Villa's willingness to sell the key remaining hurdle.

Olise targeted by PSG

Paris St-Germain are set to pursue Bayern Munich's French forward Michael Olise, 24, during the summer window. The French champions are eager to bring the winger back to Ligue 1, according to L'Equipe.

Ndiaye on United's radar

Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Everton's Iliman Ndiaye, the 26-year-old Senegal forward. The club are said to be monitoring him as they assemble a squad capable of competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Other moves in the pipeline

Liverpool are open to selling Italy forward Federico Chiesa, 28, for approximately £17m, with the player keen on a return to Serie A. Meanwhile, Barcelona are aware that Chelsea and Arsenal have registered interest in Spain winger Dani Olmo, though the Catalan club insist a departure will only be sanctioned if their £60m asking price is met.

France forward Mathys Tel, 21, could make a surprise move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bournemouth this summer. Barcelona are also planning to sell Spain midfielder Marc Casado, 22, to fund other transfers, with Bayer Leverkusen and several Premier League clubs tracking him closely.

Leeds United are prepared to shatter their transfer record to land Ivory Coast defender Ousmane Diomande from Sporting, reportedly tabling an offer worth up to £35m plus £8m in add-ons. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, are readying a £20m bid for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney, 23, putting them in direct competition with Everton for the Englishman's signature.
