Aston Villa Agree Loan Deal for Chelsea Winger Alejandro Garnacho

43 minutes ago·2 min

Aston Villa have struck a loan agreement with Chelsea for winger Alejandro Garnacho, with the deal set to run until the end of the 2026-27 season and including an obligation to buy.

The 22-year-old Argentina international has already undergone a medical in Birmingham, and a four-year permanent contract at Villa Park has been pre-agreed should the loan convert into a full transfer. The precise terms of the obligation to buy have not been disclosed by either club, though the clause is expected to be triggered by conditions such as the number of appearances Garnacho accumulates next season.

Chelsea are understood to be confident the threshold will be cleared with ease, and that the deal will ultimately deliver their original £43m valuation of the player.

Rogers deal shapes Garnacho's exit

Garnacho's move away from Stamford Bridge is directly linked to Chelsea's landmark signing of Morgan Rogers from Villa — a deal worth a record £117m completed on Tuesday. The winger's squad role was further squeezed by the subsequent arrival of Sporting winger Geovany Quenda, leaving the club with little choice but to move him on.

Chelsea had acquired Garnacho only last September, paying Manchester United £40m for his services. United retain a 10 percent sell-on clause, meaning they stand to earn a cut of any eventual permanent fee. His contribution at Stamford Bridge amounted to one Premier League goal.

Villa's busy summer window

Garnacho becomes Villa's fourth addition of the summer, following the arrivals of Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes, and Modou Keba Cisse. The club have simultaneously been active on the sales front, recouping close to £200m from departures that include Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea, and Lewis Dobbin.
