Taiwo Awoniyi has spoken warmly about opening his account for Coventry City, after the Nigerian striker fired the Sky Blues to a 3-1 Premier League victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
Awoniyi broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time — capitalising on a defensive error by Luke O'Nien and finishing with composure past goalkeeper Robin Roefs to put Coventry in command at the interval.
Awoniyi credits the game plan
The 29-year-old was quick to credit the collective effort of his teammates rather than dwell on his personal milestone, pointing to manager Frank Lampard's tactical structure as the foundation for his goal.
