Coventry City have confirmed the permanent signing of Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest, bringing an end to a four-year stint at the City Ground.
Awoniyi arrived at Forest from Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin in 2022 and went on to make 103 appearances across all competitions, scoring 23 goals in that time.
A key figure at the City Ground
The striker made an immediate impact during his debut campaign, netting 11 goals as Forest secured their Premier League status in their first season back in the top flight. He also played a part in the club's run to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
In his final season at the City Ground, the 29-year-old was among the squad that finished seventh in the Premier League in 2024/25 — a result that secured European football for the Tricky Trees.
A new chapter at Coventry
Awoniyi will now link up with Coventry City as they prepare for life in the Premier League following their promotion from the Championship.
