Brighton Shatter Club Record with £46m Signing of Croatia Star Luka Vuskovic

2 hours ago·1 min

Brighton & Hove Albion have smashed their transfer record by signing Croatia centre-back Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur on a five-year contract, with an option to extend by a further year, for a fee of £46 million.

The deal could ultimately reach £50 million through performance-related add-ons. Brighton had two earlier bids rejected last month before finally agreeing terms with Spurs.

A teenage talent with serious pedigree

Vuskovic, 19, originally joined Tottenham in 2025 having signed a pre-agreement with the Premier League club two years prior. He arrived from Hajduk Split, the Croatian club where he rose through the academy in his hometown of Split, becoming the youngest player ever to appear in Croatia's top division at just 16 and later the club's youngest goalscorer.

Spurs sent Vuskovic on loan to Hamburg shortly after his arrival, and the teenager made a major impression in the Bundesliga. He made 30 appearances last season, scoring six goals, and was rewarded with the Bundesliga's Rookie of the Season award as well as a place in the league's Team of the Year.

On the international stage, Vuskovic has earned six senior caps for Croatia and scored once. He made his World Cup debut against England in the group stages last month.

Hurzeler backs Vuskovic to thrive at the Amex

Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler confirmed the club had monitored Vuskovic's development for some time.
