CAF Opens Tender for AFCON Commercial Rights Across 2028, 2032, and 2036 Tournaments

The Confédération Africaine de Football has launched a formal Invitation to Tender for the global commercial rights — covering media, broadcast, and sponsorship — for the Africa Cup of Nations across three successive editions: 2028, 2032, and 2036.

The tender window closes on Monday, 24 August 2026 at 17:00 Cairo local time. Interested parties are invited to contact CAF directly at mediasales@cafonline.com and legalaffairs@cafonline.com.

Why this matters for African football

The Africa Cup of Nations is the continent's flagship football event and one of the fastest-growing competitions in the world. The 2025 edition, staged in Morocco, drew over 3.2 billion TV viewers and generated six billion digital views — placing AFCON third among all national-team football events globally, behind only the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Championship.

That Morocco tournament also delivered a 95 percent surge in commercial revenues, a figure CAF says reflects both the rising appeal of the competition and growing confidence among international sponsors in African football.

What the successful bidder will do

CAF is seeking a partner capable of building a world-class framework for the sale and distribution of media rights, sponsorships, and marketing assets across all three tournaments. The organisation says the goal is long-term sustainability and growth for football across the continent.

The tender is designed to identify the partner best placed to maximise the tournament's global exposure while delivering a high-quality viewing experience for fans everywhere.

Revenue generated through media and sponsorship rights is central to how CAF funds the development and support of football at all levels across Africa.
