Celtic Sign Camilo Duran from Qarabag in £6m Deal

1 hour ago·1 min

Celtic have completed the signing of striker Camilo Duran from Azerbaijani club Qarabag for a fee of around £6 million, making the 24-year-old their first new addition of the summer transfer window. The Colombian has penned a five-year deal at Parkhead.

Duran arrived at Qarabag after a spell with Portuguese outfit Portimonense and quickly established himself as one of the club's key attacking threats. He finished last season with 15 goals in total, including five in the UEFA Champions League — a return that caught the attention of clubs across Europe.

Martin O'Neill's first summer recruit

The striker is manager Martin O'Neill's first new signing, though Celtic have also confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will remain at the club on a fresh one-year deal after joining on loan for the second half of last season.

Duran's arrival comes as Celtic prepare to defend their Scottish Premiership crown, which begins with a home fixture against Dundee on August 3 — a match broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Sutton calls for major squad overhaul

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has urged the club to be bold in the transfer market this summer, suggesting they may need to spend in excess of £50 million to rebuild the squad adequately.
