Samuel Kalu Commits Future to Botev Plovdiv With New Deal Until 2029
Nigeria winger Samuel Kalu has committed his future to Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv, signing a new contract that keeps him at the club until 2029.
The deal ends speculation over Kalu's future, with Levski Sofia and a number of Swiss clubs among those believed to have been tracking the 28-year-old ahead of the transfer window. Botev Plovdiv moved decisively to retain their prize asset on a fresh three-year agreement.
Kalu arrived at the Bulgarian two-time champions last summer after departing Sky Bet Championship side Watford. He wasted no time making an impression in his debut season, registering two goals from 26 appearances across all competitions while standing out for his pace and creativity on the flanks.
A career built across Europe
Before landing in Bulgaria, Kalu built his reputation across several European leagues. He represented AS Trenčín in Slovakia, KAA Gent in Belgium, Girondins Bordeaux in France, and Watford in England before making the move to Botev Plovdiv.
On the international stage, the winger has earned 17 caps for the Super Eagles, finding the net twice for Nigeria.
The new deal secures Kalu as a key figure at Botev Plovdiv through 2029, signalling the club's ambitions to keep their most dynamic wide player at the heart of their plans for years to come.
