Chelsea have given Mykhailo Mudryk permission to secure a loan move before the transfer window closes on 1 September, as the winger works to rebuild his match fitness following a lengthy absence from competitive football.

Mudryk, 25, has not featured in a competitive fixture since November 2024. The Ukraine international was handed a four-year ban after testing positive for meldonium, a substance prohibited under anti-doping regulations. A subsequent agreement resolved the case, clearing the path for his return to the pitch.

Pre-season comeback

During Chelsea's pre-season tour of Asia, Mudryk came off the bench in friendlies against Juventus, AC Milan, and Johor Darul Ta'zim — his first appearances in 20 months. At meetings held at the conclusion of the tour, he agreed with the club that a temporary departure would be the best route back to regular football.

Destination options

Strasbourg, who fall under the same BlueCo ownership structure as Chelsea, have been put forward as one potential landing spot. However, Mudryk is understood to prefer a return to the Premier League with another English top-flight club. A number of prominent Italian sides have also emerged as suitors.

The 25-year-old joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for an initial fee of £61 million and remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2031. Despite his prolonged absence, he retains considerable value as a player — and the coming weeks will determine where he continues his comeback.
