Chelsea Eye Late Move for Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez

2 hours ago·1 min

Chelsea are weighing up a late transfer move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, with the Argentina international's representatives having offered the goalkeeper to the London club.

The interest comes after Chelsea's current first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez drew criticism for errors during Monday's Premier League win at Fulham.

Martinez available after Villa's new signing

Martinez has been placed in an uncertain position at Villa Park following Aston Villa's decision to sign goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma for nearly £30 million, effectively pushing the World Cup winner out of the first-team picture.

The Argentina shot-stopper had been linked with a move to Juventus, but the Italian club ultimately opted to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham Hotspur instead, leaving Martinez searching for a new destination before the transfer window closes.

Chelsea's potential pursuit of Martinez would address their concerns over Sanchez's form, with the Spaniard having come under scrutiny after his performance in the win over Fulham.
