Liverpool have confirmed their 25-man squad for the Champions League league phase, with Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo both left out of the selection.

Chiesa, 28, is currently sidelined through injury, though the Italy forward is expected to return to training during the international break later this month. The winger has found consistent first-team opportunities difficult to come by since arriving from Juventus in August 2024.

This is not the first time Chiesa has been excluded from Liverpool's European squad. Manager Arne Slot initially left him out last season before the club added him to the list in September after defender Giovanni Leoni sustained a long-term knee injury.

Japan international Endo, 33, has featured only as an unused substitute in Liverpool's two Premier League fixtures so far this season. Despite his availability, manager Andoni Iraola opted not to include him, with 21-year-old James McConnell earning a place in the squad instead.

Despite recovering from long-term injuries, defenders Leoni and Conor Bradley, as well as striker Hugo Ekitike, have all secured spots in the Champions League squad. Ahead of Friday's Premier League match against Ipswich Town, Iraola confirmed that Leoni could be back in training during the September international break, while Bradley and Ekitike remain further from full fitness.

Liverpool open their Champions League campaign at home to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, 9 September.

Under Champions League regulations, clubs may name up to 25 players on their List A squad, alongside an unlimited number of List B players. A minimum of eight spots in List A must be reserved for locally trained or homegrown players.
