Crystal Palace Close to Signing Anan Khalaili From Union Saint-Gilloise

Crystal Palace are on the verge of completing a deal for Anan Khalaili, the 21-year-old midfielder currently at Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, with a fee of around £21 million reported by The Athletic.

Khalaili, who operates primarily on the right side of midfield, racked up 52 appearances across all competitions for Union SG last season, contributing six goals and six assists. He also featured in the UEFA Champions League with the Belgian side, giving him valuable European pedigree.

That experience is expected to be a key factor as Crystal Palace prepare for their own UEFA Europa League campaign in the upcoming season. The Eagles are building a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts, and Khalaili's arrival would strengthen their midfield options considerably.

Active summer for the Eagles

Palace have already wrapped up two defensive additions this summer, securing defenders Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oscar Mingueza on free transfers. The club's recruitment team has moved quickly to address multiple areas of the squad.

BBC Sport also reported last week that Palace are set to bring in Zavier Gozo, a 19-year-old winger from Real Salt Lake, while interest in Brennan Johnson was also highlighted. Johnson, however, appears to be heading elsewhere — he is now expected to join Everton in a swap arrangement that would see Dwight McNeil move to Crystal Palace in return.
