Everton have completed the permanent sale of right-back Nathan Patterson to Italian Serie A side Torino for an undisclosed fee.

Patterson, 24, arrived at Goodison Park from Rangers in January 2022 on a five-and-a-half-year deal for a reported £12 million, but the Scottish defender never managed to cement a starting place during his time on Merseyside.

His spell with Everton was disrupted by injury, though he still accumulated 68 appearances in total — 29 of those coming off the bench — including eight outings last season.

A frustrating Everton chapter

On the international stage, Patterson earned 29 caps for Scotland and featured in all three of their group matches at the most recent World Cup. He returned to Everton with ambitions of nailing down a regular berth under fellow Scotsman David Moyes.

Those hopes did not materialise. His sole contribution this season came as a second-half substitute in the 4-0 League Cup victory at Preston North End last week — a brief cameo that effectively signalled the end of his time at the club.

Reunited with Adams in Turin

Patterson now links up with Scotland international teammate Che Adams at Torino, with Adams himself having attracted considerable transfer interest during the summer window.

The fee for Patterson remains undisclosed, representing a departure from the £12 million Everton paid Rangers three years ago.
