Ferguson Brands Arsenal 'Boring' After Champions League Final Loss to PSG

Sir Alex Ferguson has delivered a stinging rebuke of Arsenal following their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest, describing Mikel Arteta's side as a "boring team that did nothing but defend."
PSG claimed their second European crown after a penalty shoot-out victory over Arsenal on Saturday. Ousmane Dembélé cancelled out Kai Havertz's early opener, and the tie remained level after 120 minutes. Both Eberechi Eze and Gabriel failed to convert their spot-kicks, handing the French club the trophy.
The result means PSG now hold as many Champions League titles as Ferguson won during his celebrated tenure with Manchester United — and the Scot wasted no time making his feelings about Arsenal known.
The message to Al-Khelaïfi
According to L'Equipe, via Yahoo Sports, Ferguson sent a private message to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in the aftermath of the final. "Nasser, this is Alex Ferguson. Well done, it was a tough night for you, but you played against a boring team that did nothing but defend. Enjoy your holidays, you deserve it," the message reportedly read.
It was a pointed attack on Arteta's tactical approach, which had Arsenal sitting deep and looking to frustrate PSG throughout the contest rather than impose their own game on the evening.
A sentiment shared in the PSG camp
Ferguson is not alone in his assessment. PSG midfielder João Neves had already voiced similar frustration, stating that his side were the only team in the final "willing to play" football. The comments paint a consistent picture of an Arsenal performance built entirely on defensive resilience rather than attacking ambition.
It is worth noting the scale of PSG's progress: just 12 months ago, they were humbled 5-0 by Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Munich. A year later, they stood on the podium in Budapest as champions of Europe — while Arsenal, appearing in their first final in decades, left empty-handed.
