FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström has spoken with Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation (FFIRI) President Mehdi Taj in an online meeting held after the IR Iran squad touched down in Mexico for the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

The discussion focused on coordination and planning to guarantee a smooth tournament experience for IR Iran's players and delegation, who have settled into their Team Base Camp at Centro Xoloitzcuintle in Tijuana, Mexico.

The talks build on an earlier in-person meeting between the two officials in Istanbul, Türkiye, last month, and reflect FIFA's commitment to supporting every competing nation throughout the tournament.
