FIFA World Cup 2026 Sets Record as Biggest Digital Football Activation in FIFA History

1 hour ago·1 min

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has cemented its place in history as FIFA's largest-ever digital football activation, drawing more than 225 million players across FIFA-branded games, experiences, and digital activations during the tournament.

Gaming emerged as one of the three strongest drivers of fan engagement on FIFA-owned digital platforms throughout the competition — sitting alongside live match coverage and FIFA World Cup content. An average of approximately 11 million daily unique players participated across the full digital programme, underscoring how central gaming has become to the way fans discover and experience football.

A wide portfolio of digital experiences

Before a single ball was kicked, the FIFA Panini Collection app — developed in collaboration with Coca-Cola — launched globally, letting fans collect digital stickers of players from the 48 participating nations. FIFA Rivals, the official licensed arcade football game developed by Mythical Games, surpassed 3.5 million downloads and saw players score more than 25 million goals during the tournament.
