Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen is on the verge of joining Ligue 1 side Strasbourg on a season-long loan, as the 24-year-old seeks regular first-team football away from Stamford Bridge.

Strasbourg's new manager Hugo Oliveira identified Jorgensen as his priority target after Mike Penders returned to Chelsea following his own loan spell at the French club. Oliveira was keen to bring in a goalkeeper comfortable playing out from the back, a profile Jorgensen fits well.

The deal reflects the deepening relationship between Chelsea and Strasbourg, who share the same ownership group — Clearlake-Boehly's BlueCo consortium — and have increasingly used that connection to develop talent across both squads.

Jorgensen has found opportunities limited at Chelsea, where first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has proved difficult to displace. The loan move offers him a platform to gain consistent playing time at the top level of French football.

Strasbourg also moved to bolster their defensive options on Tuesday, securing Chelsea academy defender Genesis Antwi, 19, on loan.

The two clubs have now completed 14 deals between them, including Chelsea's permanent acquisitions of midfielder Valentin Barco, striker Emmanuel Emegha, and defender Mamadou Sarr. Former head coach Liam Rosenior also crossed paths between the two clubs, though his time in charge at Chelsea lasted fewer than four months before Xabi Alonso was appointed as his permanent successor last month.
