Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães says the agony of losing the UEFA Champions League final has done nothing but sharpen his hunger — and that of his teammates — ahead of the Community Shield.

Speaking to TNT Sports before the match, the Brazilian centre-back was candid about channelling disappointment into renewed ambition. "For me especially, it is a motivation and, of course, we want to win every trophy," he said. "But we know the process, and I'm motivated to go again and win as many trophies as possible."

Six years of belief

Gabriel reflected on nearly six seasons at the club and credited the supporters and everyone within the organisation for creating the conditions to compete at the highest level year after year.

"The motivation comes from inside, and from our team-mates," he added. "I can see how every player wants to win, and so you then have even more motivation to give everything."

The centre-back made clear that Arsenal are not approaching the new campaign with doubt. "We know the quality we have in our team. How we want to win again and, of course, we have five trophies to play for, and we go for it."

Early bragging rights on the line

The Community Shield represents Arsenal's first opportunity to make a statement this season. Their opponents, Manchester City, claimed both the FA Cup and the League Cup during Pep Guardiola's final campaign in charge — yet finished as Premier League runners-up, with Arsenal claiming the top-flight title.

A win this weekend would give Arsenal early momentum and a psychological edge before their first competitive fixture against Coventry.
