Manchester City survived an early scare to open their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, rescued by late strikes from Marc Guéhi and Josko Gvardiol.

The hosts looked set for a disappointing start to the season before the two defenders combined to turn the result around in the closing stages, sending the Etihad Stadium crowd home with three points.

Bournemouth had threatened to inflict a damaging opening-day defeat on City, only for Guéhi and Gvardiol to intervene late and secure the win that their side needed.
