Haaland Puts Pressure on England Ahead of World Cup Quarter-Final Against Norway

Erling Haaland has declared that England deserve to enter Saturday's FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final against Norway as firm favourites — and insists the pressure to deliver falls squarely on Thomas Tuchel's side.
The two nations meet in Miami with a place in the semi-finals on the line, and Haaland, who leads the Norway attack, believes the weight of expectation rests entirely with the Three Lions.
"I think everyone should stay humble — but they should be confident of progressing, definitely," Haaland told Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill when asked whether England fans should temper their optimism.
The Norway and Manchester City striker went further after his side's training session, making clear where he believes the pressure lies.
"I think there are some clear favourites out there. I think England is one of them, so I think every single one of you should put pressure on the English lads!" he told journalists.
England's path to this stage was eased when Norway knocked out Brazil 2-1, eliminating Carlo Ancelotti's side and handing Tuchel's men what most observers regard as a more favourable route to the last four. English supporters have been quick to acknowledge their good fortune in the draw, yet Haaland's words serve as a reminder that Norway arrive in Miami with momentum and belief of their own.
