Harvey Elliott Joins Valencia on Loan from Liverpool

2 hours ago·1 min

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has moved to Valencia on a loan deal running to the end of the current season, with no option or obligation for the La Liga club to make the transfer permanent.

Elliott, 23, completed his medical and finalised paperwork after touching down in Spain on Monday night, following an agreement between the two clubs earlier that day.

Second loan in successive seasons

This marks the second straight season that Liverpool have sent Elliott out on loan. He spent last season with Aston Villa before returning to Merseyside for pre-season, where he made regular appearances under the club's new head coach Andoni Iraola.

Despite that promising start, Elliott was absent from the squads named for Liverpool's opening La Liga fixtures against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest — a decision that appeared to accelerate the search for a temporary move.

Background and contract situation

Elliott signed for Liverpool from Fulham in 2019 at the age of 16, and cut his teeth in senior football during a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship during the 2020-21 season. He holds a contract with Liverpool through to 2028.

A former England Under-21 international, Elliott now arrives at a Valencia side in need of a spark. The Spanish club missed out on European competition last season after finishing ninth in La Liga, and find themselves in 16th place this campaign having failed to win any of their opening three matches.
