Jordan Henderson has ended his contract at Brentford by mutual agreement, clearing the way for the veteran midfielder to join Chelsea.

Brentford confirmed the departure in an official statement posted on their X account on Wednesday. Henderson had signed a two-year deal with the club in July 2025 under manager Keith Andrews, but his time at Brentford lasted just one season.

In their farewell message, Brentford wrote:

"Jordan Henderson has left Brentford after a mutual agreement was reached to terminate his contract. Jordan leaves with the best wishes and gratitude of everyone at Brentford. We wish you every success for the future, Hendo."

The 36-year-old former Liverpool captain took to social media to share a heartfelt statement following the announcement, expressing his appreciation for the opportunity the club had given him.

"Coming back to the Premier League was really important to me, and Brentford gave me that chance," Henderson wrote. "I'll always be thankful for that. I hope I was able to play my part in helping the team through an important period for the club. We achieved a lot together last season, and it's something everyone involved should be proud of."

Henderson singled out the supporters for special praise, noting that their backing had remained consistent throughout his stay. He also paid tribute to owner Matt Benham, director of football Phil Giles, technical director Lee Dykes, Andrews, and every member of the playing and backroom staff.

"Brentford is a special football club," Henderson added. "It's ambitious, progressive and full of good people. It's been a privilege to be part of it."

With his Brentford chapter now closed, Henderson is set to take on a new challenge at Chelsea as the former England international prepares for the next stage of his career.
