Hull City have been hit with a £30,000 fine by the Football Association following homophobic chanting during their FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Chelsea in February, with three supporters receiving bans of at least three years.

The sanction comes after three individuals were arrested at the MKM Stadium for allegedly taking part in the chanting. Warnings were issued repeatedly over the stadium's public address system and messages were shown on screens during the match, but the chanting continued regardless.

Club condemns the behaviour

Hull City issued a strong statement condemning the language used, describing the chant in question as a recognised homophobic slur whose use may amount to a criminal hate crime. The club warned that those involved could face arrest and prosecution.

The FA charged Hull City with failing to ensure their supporters did not use offensive, abusive, or insulting language referencing sexual orientation. Hull City accepted the charge, and the £30,000 fine was confirmed on Friday.
