Hull City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Jack Butland from Rangers, making him the club's first acquisition ahead of their return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence.
Butland, 33, joins on a two-year deal — with an option to extend for a further 12 months — for an undisclosed fee. His arrival comes as manager Sergej Jakirovic begins assembling a squad capable of competing in the top flight.
A decorated stint in Scotland
The goalkeeper spent three seasons at Ibrox, making 157 appearances across all competitions. In the 2025-26 Scottish Premiership campaign alone, Butland featured in every minute of every league match, totalling 55 appearances across all competitions.
During his time with Rangers, he lifted the Scottish League Cup and earned both the club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards.
Back on the biggest stage
Butland is no stranger to Premier League football, having made 77 top-flight appearances during a seven-year spell at Stoke City. He also featured in the Premier League for Crystal Palace before his move to Scotland.
A nine-time England international, Butland made history in 2012 when he became his country's youngest-ever senior goalkeeper at the age of 19.
