Inter Milan Complete £30m Signing of Liverpool Midfielder Curtis Jones

Inter Milan have secured the services of Curtis Jones from Liverpool in a transfer worth 35m euros (£30m), with the Serie A champions striking an agreement that includes a base fee of 30m euros (£25.7m) and up to 5m euros (£4.3m) in performance-related add-ons.

Liverpool also negotiated a 10 percent sell-on clause into the deal, ensuring the club will benefit financially from any future sale of the 25-year-old midfielder.

A long-running pursuit finally settled

Inter's interest in Jones dates back to January, when the Italian club proposed a loan move with an option to buy. Liverpool rejected that approach outright, and the two clubs remained at an impasse until negotiations intensified this summer.

In June, Liverpool turned down a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) from Inter, with the Premier League side valuing their academy product at around £35m. The Italian champions eventually bridged the gap after Liverpool signalled that a package in line with the £30m Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence would be enough to get a deal done.

Jones joined Liverpool's academy at the age of nine and made his first-team debut under manager Jurgen Klopp in 2019. Over six seasons with the senior squad, he accumulated 228 appearances for the club — a remarkable return for a homegrown talent.

Last season, Jones featured 49 times across all competitions under Arne Slot, but managed only 18 Premier League starts as he struggled to nail down a regular place in midfield. With one year remaining on his contract, Liverpool ultimately decided to cash in rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee further down the line.

Jones becomes the third English player to move to Inter this summer, following John Stones and Djed Spence in completing a notable British contingent at the San Siro.
