Joao Pedro Named EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month for August

Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has claimed the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Month award for August 2026, becoming the first Blues player to receive the honour in nearly two years.

The club confirmed the news on their official website on Friday, noting that Pedro edged out seven other nominees — including his Chelsea team-mate Cole Palmer — in the public vote.

A blistering start to the season

Pedro's recognition follows a brilliant opening to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, during which he registered four goal contributions across Chelsea's first two matches, helping the club win both fixtures.

He announced himself in dramatic fashion in the season opener at Fulham, breaking the deadlock just 33 seconds into the match before setting up Palmer's winning goal later in the game.

Pedro then carried that form into Chelsea's first home game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion, netting a composed finish before again teeing up Palmer for the decisive strike.

First since Cole Palmer in 2024

The award marks a significant milestone for the Brazilian striker. It is the first time Pedro has won the accolade, and he becomes the first Chelsea player to take it home since Palmer claimed his second consecutive prize in September 2024.

Palmer himself was nominated for the August award but ultimately finished behind his fellow forward in the fan vote, underlining the strength of Pedro's individual performances in the opening weeks of the season.
