Liverpool are engaged in fresh negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move for Bradley Barcola, with growing confidence on both sides that an agreement can be reached before the transfer window closes in a week.

A significant gap in valuation has complicated discussions throughout the summer. Paris Saint-Germain are holding firm at around £145 million for the France international winger, a figure Liverpool have been reluctant to match. Despite that difference, talks on Tuesday were described as positive, and the mood between the two camps is cautiously optimistic.

Strong relations aiding the push

According to Sky Sports News, the two clubs enjoy a strong relationship at the highest levels of their respective hierarchies — a factor that is expected to play a key role in driving any deal over the line. Liverpool are the only club currently pursuing Barcola, who has entered the final two years of his contract at the European champions and has grown increasingly unsatisfied with his position in the squad.

Liverpool have also held exploratory discussions regarding Barcola's Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye, a right-sided winger. Reinforcing the wide areas of the pitch has been the club's primary objective throughout this transfer window.

Minteh pursuit falls short

Alongside their efforts to sign Barcola and Mbaye, Liverpool have twice attempted to secure Yankuba Minteh from Brighton & Hove Albion. Brighton rejected both approaches, including a final bid reported at £60 million.

The club's desire for additional wide options is also tied to their intention to hold on to Cody Gakpo. Liverpool are unwilling to sanction the sale of the Netherlands international despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. The club's position is clear — Gakpo will not leave unless at least two new wingers arrive first.
