Ajax head coach Míchel Sánchez has heaped praise on Tolu Arokodare after the Nigerian striker produced an outstanding cameo in his side's 4-2 UEFA Europa Conference League playoff win over Sion.
Arokodare entered the fray in the 72nd minute, replacing Marcos Leonardo, and took only two minutes to leave his mark on the game. The forward struck in the 74th minute to give Ajax a 3-2 lead — a critical moment that shifted the momentum firmly in the Dutch club's favour.
He was not finished there. With three minutes remaining, Arokodare turned provider, teeing up Davy Klaassen to seal the victory and complete an eye-catching substitute's display.
Sánchez full of praise
Speaking to Ajax Life via Goal, Sánchez made no secret of his delight at what Arokodare brought to the match.
