Man Utd and Spurs Battle for Mateus Fernandes as Arsenal Chase Alex Scott

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes this summer, though Manchester United could yet emerge as serious rivals for the Portugal international's signature, according to Sky Sports News.

Fernandes, 21, is eager to remain in the Premier League following West Ham United's relegation, and Tottenham are understood to be prepared to spend up to £85m to secure him. Manchester United, however, have not ruled out submitting their own bid — the club previously valued the former Southampton player at around £60m but may stretch that figure as rival interest intensifies.

Tonali complicates Spurs' midfield plans

Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has set his sights high in central midfield this window. The club have already seen a bid of almost £80m turned down by Newcastle United for Sandro Tonali, and it is unclear whether they will return with an improved offer or shift focus entirely to Fernandes — or attempt to land both.

Tonali, 26, is also attracting attention from Manchester City, who retain an interest in the Italy international alongside their pursuit of Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson. Arsenal have additionally been linked with Tonali as the race for the Newcastle United midfielder grows more competitive.

Scott high on multiple wishlists

The transfer intrigue does not end with Fernandes and Tonali. Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham are all monitoring Bournemouth's Alex Scott, with United and Arsenal both believed to have made preliminary enquiries to the south-coast club.

Bournemouth have made their position clear: they do not wish to part with Scott, 22, who narrowly missed out on a place in England's World Cup squad. Talks over a new contract for the ex-Bristol City man are ongoing, with the club hoping he will stay and build on his development under new manager Marco Rose.

Despite Bournemouth's reluctance, Scott continues to feature on the shortlists of several top clubs seeking midfield reinforcements, and a formal bid from one of them cannot be ruled out as the window progresses.
