Mainoo and Rashford withdraw from England duty

England confirmed that five players have withdrawn from Thomas Tuchel's squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, among them Manchester United midfield star Kobbie Mainoo and forward Marcus Rashford.

Mainoo's absence is particularly notable. Tuchel had spoken publicly about his desire to give the midfielder proper game time with the Three Lions this month, having praised him effusively after the FIFA World Cup 2026, where Mainoo was one of England's travelling party from Old Trafford but did not feature on the pitch.
