Manchester United's Devaney Heads to Hibernian on Loan Deal

Jacob Devaney is heading back to Scottish football after Manchester United agreed to send the 19-year-old midfielder to Hibernian on loan, with Easter Road holding an option to sign him permanently at the end of the deal.
Devaney, a deep-lying playmaker who represents the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, spent the second half of last season at St Mirren, where he made 18 appearances, scored once, and contributed one assist for the Paisley club.
Earlier in the campaign, he had captained United's Premier League 2 side. He also featured during United's pre-season in July, appearing against Wrexham and Rosenborg — netting in the match against the Norwegian side.
Gray and Mackay back the signing
Hibs head coach David Gray welcomed the arrival, describing Devaney as a player eager to improve. "He's a technically talented young international footballer who is keen to learn and develop," Gray said. "To have him join before the end of the window is really positive and we'll look to get him settled in as quickly as possible."
Easter Road sporting director Malky Mackay revealed that Hibernian faced significant competition for Devaney's signature. "He's a young player with an excellent background and, importantly, he already has experience of playing in the Scottish Premiership," Mackay said.
"It's an exciting opportunity for Jacob and for the club, and we're really looking forward to seeing what he can bring to Hibs," he added.
