Mandi Praises Algeria's Fighting Spirit After comeback Win Over Jordan

1 hour ago·1 min

Algeria defender Aissa Mandi has spoken with pride about his side's determination after the Desert Foxes came from behind to beat Jordan 2-1 at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium, keeping their FIFA World Cup 2026 hopes firmly alive.

Jordan drew first blood when Nizar Al Rashdan struck a fine shot with the outside of his right boot nine minutes before half-time, leaving Algeria with a deficit to overturn at the break.

The Desert Foxes, who had opened their campaign with a heavy 3-0 defeat to Argentina, levelled matters in the 69th minute through Nadhir Benbouali, whose header found the net to restore parity.

Amine Gouiri then settled the contest with eight minutes left on the clock, poking home from close range after a corner fell perfectly into his path to complete the turnaround.

Mandi's pride in the group

Speaking after the match, Mandi acknowledged just how difficult it was to break down a well-organised Jordanian defensive unit.
