Musiala Collapses Again in Bayern Munich Pre-Season Scare

58 minutes ago·1 min

Jamal Musiala has collapsed on the pitch for the second time in the space of three days, raising fresh concerns about the Bayern Munich midfielder's health heading into the new season.

The 22-year-old went down just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute during Bayern Munich's 4-2 pre-season friendly victory over FC Heidenheim, according to Sky in Germany.

Kane's quick response

Striker Harry Kane reacted with composure and quick thinking when he saw Musiala go down. Kane immediately instructed both Bayern Munich and FC Heidenheim players to form a protective ring around the collapsed star, shielding him from further distress.

Musiala was subsequently walked off the pitch with the assistance of a team doctor, and he appeared to recover without serious incident.

A second collapse in days

The latest scare comes only three days after Musiala suffered a similar episode during a pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig. In that match, he had just scored to make it 3-1 before losing his footing and appearing disoriented in the 83rd minute.

Team-mate Ismael Saibari sprinted across to support him before he could hit the ground, while medical staff rushed onto the pitch to attend to him. Musiala made a rapid recovery in that instance, with team doctors signalling he was fine, and supporters in the stands chanted his name as he was helped from the field.

Bayern Munich have not yet issued a formal statement on the cause of the episodes, but the back-to-back incidents are certain to prompt closer medical scrutiny of one of European football's most gifted young players.
