Nathan Ake in £7m Fenerbahce Talks as Manchester City Plan Summer Exit

Manchester City defender Nathan Ake is in advanced talks over a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce in a deal worth £7m, with the potential to rise to £8.5m through add-ons, BBC Sport has learned.

Fenerbahce have confirmed that personal terms are already in place with the 31-year-old Netherlands international, though sources indicate that the finer details of the transfer are still being worked through. A resolution is expected shortly, with Ake set to travel to the club's Austria training camp once administrative clearance is granted.

"The player, who wore the jersey in the 2026 Fifa World Cup, will join our team in the Austria camp following the permission process," Fenerbahce said in a statement.

Ake arrived at Etihad Stadium from Bournemouth in 2020 for £40m and has gone on to make 177 appearances for City. However, his role diminished significantly during Pep Guardiola's final season in charge, with the Dutchman managing only 17 starts across all competitions — six of them in the Premier League.

With just one year remaining on his contract, City had earmarked Ake for sale this summer, and Fenerbahce presidential candidate Aziz Yildirim has been a driving force behind the push to secure his signature.

Ake featured at the 2026 World Cup, making three appearances for Netherlands before they were eliminated by Morocco in the last 32.

Despite his reduced involvement in recent seasons, Ake departs Etihad Stadium with a remarkable collection of honours — four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, two League Cups, and the Champions League.
