Newcastle Set to Unveil Jaissle as Head Coach After Howe's Departure Confirmed

1 hour ago·1 min

Newcastle are on the verge of appointing Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach, with an official announcement expected on Saturday following the confirmation of Eddie Howe's departure from the club.

According to Sky Sports News, Newcastle have reached a compensation agreement worth £9.5 million (€11 million) with Saudi club Al Ahli to secure Jaissle's release. The 38-year-old German, formerly at the helm of RB Salzburg, is set to put pen to paper on a four-year deal at St James' Park.

Jaissle is scheduled to travel to Spain on Saturday to meet his new squad, who are currently on a pre-season training camp in La Manga. The appointment marks a swift conclusion to the managerial search that was set in motion when Howe's exit became known.

Howe's statement held back for deal to be finalised

Newcastle waited before publicly confirming Howe's departure on Friday — a move that came a day after Sky Sports News had first reported he was leaving. The club deliberately delayed the announcement to allow time for the Jaissle negotiations to reach a conclusion.

Jaissle's first assignment in the dugout will be a pre-season friendly against Valencia at the Mestalla next Saturday.
