Nottingham Forest have agreed a club-record deal to bring Liam Delap to the City Ground from Chelsea, with the fee understood to be at least £45 million. The 23-year-old striker is set to undergo a medical on Wednesday before completing the move.

Delap attracted interest from several Premier League clubs ahead of this transfer window, with Everton among those monitoring his situation. Forest, however, moved decisively to secure the signing and beat off rival interest.

Chelsea's short spell with Delap

Chelsea brought Delap to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2025, paying Ipswich £30 million for his services. Despite making 41 appearances for the club, the forward managed only two goals — a return that fell well short of expectations for a striker at that price.

Chelsea had valued Delap at around £50 million this summer, and the agreed fee of at least £45 million means they stand to make a profit of approximately £15 million on the deal.

Forest's record broken again

The transfer surpasses Forest's previous club record, which was set just 12 months ago when Omari Hutchison arrived from Ipswich Town for £37.5 million in August 2025. The Delap deal underlines the ambition Nottingham Forest continue to show in the transfer market as they look to cement their standing in the Premier League.
