Osimhen Plays Down Arsenal Links, Promises Focus on Galatasaray

1 hour ago·1 min

Victor Osimhen has moved to calm speculation about his future at Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray, brushing aside reports linking him with a move to Premier League champions Arsenal.

The Nigeria striker acknowledged that transfer rumours are part of football life but made clear that his mind is firmly on the season ahead with his current club.

"Rumors always circulate during transfer seasons. I'll focus on my job. I'm focused on my work. We'll see and think about the future then,"

Osimhen told Galatasaray's official website, offering little encouragement to those hoping for a swift departure.

A bittersweet opening day

Galatasaray opened their new campaign with a 2-2 draw against Arca Çorum FK — a result that left Osimhen frustrated despite him being the architect of both goals on the day.

The 27-year-old was unquestionably the Yellow and Reds' most dangerous player, yet the shared spoils clearly stung him after the final whistle.

"Disappointment! I think it was actually a wake-up call. We weren't underestimating our opponent. These kinds of opponents are tough,"

he said, before adding a rallying message for his teammates.

"We knew they would challenge us, and they did. We need to wake up. We're experiencing disappointment. Let this be a wake-up call. Knowing that all the upcoming matches will be difficult, we will learn from our mistakes, improve ourselves, and continue on our way."

Osimhen's form in front of goal remains undimmed, but Galatasaray will need more than individual brilliance if they are to defend their Super Lig crown.
