Peter Shalulile Departs Mamelodi Sundowns After Record-Breaking Six-Year Reign

1 hour ago·1 min

Peter Shalulile has ended his six-year association with Mamelodi Sundowns, departing one of African football's most dominant clubs with a legacy few strikers on the continent can match.

The Namibian international leaves Chloorkop having scored 136 goals across all competitions — a haul that helped Sundowns lift multiple trophies, including the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League title and the African Football League.

A continental goal machine

In the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League alone, Shalulile netted 20 times, cementing his reputation as one of Africa's most dangerous attackers in the continent's premier club competition. His movement off the ball, relentless work rate, and composed finishing made him a consistent threat over half a decade of CAF Interclub campaigns.

In South African domestic football, he finished with 92 league goals — just eight short of a century — a figure that underlines how prolific he was at the highest level on home soil since joining from Highlands Park in 2020.

Competition sharpened him

Reflecting on his time at the club, Shalulile credited the depth of Sundowns' squad for pushing him to grow as a player.
