Porro Pledges Spurs Loyalty Despite Admitting Dream of Spanish Return

1 hour ago·1 min

Pedro Porro has moved to silence speculation about his future by reaffirming his commitment to Tottenham Hotspur, even as he acknowledged a personal desire to return to Spain at some point in his career.

Speaking on the Spanish radio programme El Larguero, the full-back was candid about his feelings toward La Liga and his home country, but drew a firm line between sentiment and his professional obligations.

"Obviously, I'm really looking forward to returning to Spain one day. It's my country and I like the league," Porro said. "Right now, it would be very unfair to talk about anything other than my club because I'm under contract. They have shown me a lot of respect, which is mutual."

No concrete approach from Madrid or Barcelona

Porro also addressed circulating rumours that linked him to Real Madrid and Barcelona during the most recent transfer window. He confirmed that while some clubs made enquiries about his availability, neither Spanish giant lodged a formal or concrete offer.

"There was interest because they ask what your situation is, but there wasn't real interest," he explained. "If there's genuine interest, they call you directly, and that didn't happen."

The right-back added that he consciously chose not to let the noise distract him. "There were rumours, but I was focused on doing well for my country. I didn't want to pay too much attention to it," he said.

With Tottenham Hotspur treating him respectfully throughout, Porro made clear that any conversation about other clubs while under contract at Spurs would be inappropriate — a stance he appeared firm on heading into the months ahead.
