PSG Sign World Cup Winner Ferran Torres from Barcelona

Paris St-Germain have completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona, bringing the Spain international to the French capital on a deal running until 2031. The reported transfer fee stands at around 50 million euros (£42.7m).

Torres, 26, was among the standout performers of this summer's World Cup, netting the extra-time winner against Argentina to hand Spain their second men's World Cup triumph. That goal capped a remarkable period for the forward, who had already enjoyed a stellar club season.

A prolific campaign at Barcelona

Across all competitions last season, Torres contributed 21 goals and three assists in 49 appearances, playing a key role as Barcelona claimed the La Liga title. His consistency throughout the campaign made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe heading into the transfer window.

PSG's summer business

Torres becomes the second marquee forward PSG have recruited this summer, following Maghnes Akliouche's arrival from Monaco. The club, managed by Luis Enrique — himself a former Barcelona coach and player — have lifted the UEFA Champions League in each of the past two seasons, cementing their status as the continent's dominant force.

PSG further bolstered their trophy cabinet on Wednesday, defeating Aston Villa 2-1 to claim the Uefa Super Cup.

Torres's career path

The Spanish forward has been at Barcelona since 2022, having spent two years prior to that at Manchester City. At international level, Torres has scored 25 goals in 65 caps for Spain — a national side he first represented under the guidance of Enrique, his new club manager.

Meanwhile, PSG may face a departure on the other flank this summer, with Bradley Barcola attracting interest from Liverpool.
