Three of African football's most recognisable clubs — Pyramids FC, TP Mazembe, and Simba SC — all returned from hostile territory with victories on Sunday, setting up strong positions ahead of the second legs in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League preliminary round.

Pyramids dismantle Gor Mahia in Nairobi

Pyramids FC delivered one of the day's most commanding displays, silencing Kenyan champions Gor Mahia with a 2-0 win at the Nyayo National Stadium. W. El Karti broke the deadlock after just six minutes, and M. Saber added a second deep into first-half stoppage time to put the Egyptian side in firm control.

Gor Mahia began with purpose and created a threat in the early exchanges, but Pyramids steadied themselves and capitalised on defensive lapses to take a comfortable advantage into the return leg.

Maghreb Fèz put four past Rahimo

Moroccan side Maghreb Fèz produced one of the preliminary round's most emphatic results, defeating Burkina Faso's Rahimo FC 4-1 at home. Adam Brika opened the scoring after seven minutes, before Soulaïman Allouch doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Rahimo pulled one back in the 60th minute, but Rui Almeida's side quickly restored their two-goal cushion through Devin Titus in the 72nd minute and Christopher Ibayi four minutes later. The winners of this tie will meet either ASC Kara of Togo or ASEC Mimosas of Côte d'Ivoire in the next round.

Mazembe edge Medeama in Tarkwa

TP Mazembe left Ghana with a narrow but vital 1-0 victory over Medeama in Tarkwa. The match looked destined for a stalemate until Lise Nyembo Ntumba struck in the 86th minute, handing the five-time African champions a slender lead to defend in Lubumbashi.

Simba win in Lilongwe

Simba SC also emerged victorious on the road, beating Mighty Wanderers 1-0 in Lilongwe. Anicet Oura scored the only goal in the 66th minute, leaving the Tanzanian giants well placed for the second leg in Dar es Salaam.

Other notable results

Petro de Luanda claimed a 1-0 away win over UD Songo, while Eagles of Congo defeated APR by the same margin in Lubumbashi — with Soze Zemanga's 45th-minute strike marking the club's first-ever goal in CAF interclub competition.

Mauritian debutants La Cure Waves earned a creditable 0-0 draw against South Africa's Orlando Pirates, and Colombe Sportive du Sud were also held goalless by Stade Malien. In Lomé, ASCK and ASEC Mimosas shared a 1-1 draw after Enock Assignon's opener was cancelled out by Ben Guel before half-time.

Enugu Rangers and AS Sobemap also finished level at 1-1, while Wiliete Benguela beat Foresters FC 2-0 and Scottland FC edged Nsingizini Hotspurs 1-0. Nigelec and MC Alger played out a goalless draw in Niger.
