Rangers have lodged a bid of around £7.5 million for Portland Timbers forward Kevin Kelsy, though the MLS side are not prepared to sell and the 22-year-old Venezuelan has shown no desire to force a move, according to journalist Tom Bogert.

Despite the impasse over Kelsy, Rangers appear active in the transfer market on multiple fronts. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Glasgow club have agreed a loan deal — with an option to buy — to bring former Hearts left-back James Penrice back to Scotland from AEK Athens.

Rangers are also among a group of clubs monitoring 20-year-old Girona winger Min-Su Kim. Rudy Galetti reports that Fenerbahce, Ajax, and Lyon have all sought updated information on the South Korean talent in recent weeks.

Celtic close in on Bosnian starlet

Across the city, Celtic are tracking Slovan Liberec attacking midfielder Ermin Mahmic. The 21-year-old Bosnian is reportedly on the verge of becoming the largest outgoing transfer in Czech football history, according to Infotbal via the Scottish Sun.

Celtic are also being linked with Lech Poznan winger Patrik Walemark, 24, who is attracting interest from Dutch side Groningen as well, per Polska Sportowy via the Daily Record.

The Scottish champions are in advanced discussions over a loan move for 18-year-old Chelsea left-back Landon Emenalo, according to journalist Anthony Joseph. Meanwhile, the Daily Record reports that Celtic retain interest in Hajduk Split right-back Niko Sigur — valued at around £6 million — as well as Torino midfielder Gvidas Ginetis. Hibernian midfielder Miguel Chaiwa is listed as an additional option.

Rangers chairman in Linfield talks

Off the pitch, Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh has held preliminary discussions with Northern Irish club Linfield after being approached about a potential investment in the Belfast-based outfit, the Daily Record reports.
