Rangers Close In on Diomande Sale as Transfer Window Heats Up

2 hours ago·2 min

Rangers are set to part ways with midfielder Mohamed Diomande, with Turkish Super Lig side Corum finalising the details of a move that could be worth up to £4.8 million for the Ibrox club.

The 24-year-old is expected in Istanbul on Monday for a medical and contract discussions, according to multiple reports. Corum are widely reported to have tabled a formal offer in the region of £4.8m, with an initial figure closer to £4.5m also cited by other sources.

Nedeljkovic and Driouech also on Rangers' radar

With Diomande heading for the exit, Rangers are actively pursuing replacements. The club are exploring a potential season-long loan for Aston Villa's 20-year-old right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic, with both the Daily Record and The Herald reporting that talks are at an early stage.

Rangers also remain in discussions with PSV Eindhoven over winger Couhaib Driouech, despite having a £6 million bid rejected. PSV head coach Peter Bosz has attributed Driouech's absence from their Eredivisie opener against Fortuna Sittard to a lack of fitness rather than transfer speculation. Burnley and Celta Vigo are also reported to be monitoring the situation, with Rangers understood to be targeting a deal worth around £7 million.

Meanwhile, a previous bid from Galatasaray worth £22 million for striker Youssef Chermiti — which would have been a club record sale — was rejected by Rangers.

Ghedjemis price tag cools interest

Frosinone winger Farès Ghedjemis, 23, has attracted interest from several clubs, including Rangers, but Frosinone's asking price of £17.1 million is reported to have dampened that enthusiasm considerably.

Ure heads to Sevilla; Wilson eyed as replacement

Elsewhere in Scottish football, striker Robbie Ure has completed a move to Sevilla from Sirius worth approximately £7.7 million to the Swedish club — £5.8 million fixed, with the remainder in performance-related add-ons. The 22-year-old chose Sevilla over late approaches from Lorient and PAOK, and he is set to arrive in Spain on Monday for a medical.

Sirius are now looking to replace Ure and have identified Aston Villa youngster Rory Wilson, 20, as a potential target. IFK Gothenburg are also interested in Wilson, who has further options in England and Spain.

Other Scottish football notes

Celtic have joined Ipswich Town in keeping tabs on Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope, 34, according to the Daily Mail. Bournemouth centre-back Matai Akinmboni is training with Dundee ahead of a possible season-long loan. Genoa have registered an interest in Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan, 23. Sheffield United have submitted an improved £8 million offer for Leicester City centre-back Harry Souttar, 27. Motherwell are weighing up loan possibilities for 18-year-old midfielder Zander McAllister despite his first-team involvement. Finally, former Motherwell head coach Jens Berthel Askou revealed he was tempted to stay at Fir Park but ultimately could not turn down the opportunity to take charge at Toulouse.
