Real Madrid have officially confirmed the arrival of defender Ibrahima Konate, who will complete his move to the Bernabeu Stadium when his Liverpool contract expires on June 30.

The LaLiga club have secured Konate on a four-year deal, bringing the France international to Madrid on a free transfer after he opted against extending his stay at Anfield.

Konate had made clear earlier this summer that he would be departing Liverpool after the two parties failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension, bringing an end to his time at the club.

The defender becomes Jose Mourinho's third signing since the Portuguese manager returned for a second spell in charge at the Bernabeu, following the arrivals of Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella.
