A transfer chain linking Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Benfica could shape one of the more unexpected moves of the summer window, with Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson reportedly emerging as a target for the Portuguese club should Andreas Schjelderup depart Lisbon.

According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, Benfica manager Marco Silva — who worked with Nelson during the winger's loan spell at Fulham in 2024/25 — has identified the 26-year-old as a replacement if Schjelderup moves to the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be among the clubs monitoring the Norwegian, who is valued at £43 million.

Schjelderup's future in doubt

Schjelderup made headlines at the FIFA World Cup when he scored against England in the quarter-finals for Norway. Tottenham view him as the ideal attacker to fill a left-wing role under their new setup. However, Benfica president Rui Costa has pushed back on talk of an imminent departure.
